Name: Saule Baikenova
Country of origin: Kazakhstan
Programme: MA in Audiovisual Art (Second)
Studied at: Kazakh National Pedagogical University Abai
Saule Baikenova came to Siauliai University together with two other students who studied history. Saule received a scholarship from her countries government. The scholarship covered tuition fee, accommodation and living expenses.
Saule emphasized that methods of art studies at Šiauliai University are very interesting and differ from study methods in Kazakhstan. “Here in Šiauliai art studies are focused on practical tasks, projects. Meanwhile in Kazakhstan studies are focused more on theory”. Saule had a possibility to widen world-view of art. She participated in contemporary art exhibitions, galleries. Lecturers introduced to her the most famous contemporary European artists and their latest works. “The studies where amazing, teacher were doctors, researchers, experts indeed, people with incredible experience who are totally aware of sharing all the knowledge with you, and not only so, but also helping you, support you and even become your friend whenever you need them. Dealing with cultures and people’s moods, believes, customs, preferences and so on, is kind of difficult no matter where you are, but there is the moment in which you learn who you really are, how you act in those difficult moments, you get to know yourself better, because you are in fact, responsible of yourself and you acts showing your culture. Moreover, I visited mane different places in Lithuania, Europe and so on in between of my lectures.” Saule considers coming back to Siauliai for studies again. According to her: “Šiauliai is perfect place for students. City is small, but there were a lot of activities, art and other kind of events. All university buildings and students dormitory are in city centre. Also there were no communication problems because majority of people speaks in Russian. I lived the most amazing experience in my whole life and I did learn and share all my knowledge and my happiness with all the gorgeous, warm and kind people in there. If I had this opportunity again, I will surely do it with no hesitation!”
