Near East University (NEU) founded in Nicosia, North Cyprus in 1988 has become one of the major higher education institutes of the region, with 15 faculties, 4 graduate schools and 4 vocational schools forming a true international community of scholars with more than 16,000 students from over 57 countries and faculty from 25 different countries. NEU is accredited and fully monitored by the Higher Education Council in Turkey and enjoys worldwide recognition.
NEU is a full member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), European Universities Association (EUA) and is also a full member of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW). Also, NEU has international memberships and accreditation like International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP) and The Joint Commission International (JCI).

The NEU Grand Library occupies a closed area of 15,000 square meters with over 150 million electronic sources and over 600 thousand printed materials. The library offers a 7 day a week, 24 hours a day service to students, scholars and the general public.
The Centre established on the NEU Campus has two supercomputers of which the first has 1,280 processors and 20 TeraByte memory. The second supercomputer, operates with the Cell-BE technology recently developed by IBM, has 112 processors.
There are 15 dormitory buildings in total, 14 of which are situated on campus and 1 in the city of Nicosia. Nine of these blocks accommodate male students and the remaining six are for female students. Rooms are arranged to facilitate one, two, three and four students sharing. The total capacity is 3,500 beds.
The Olympic Indoor Swimming Pool was opened on 19 May 1997. It consists of a total area of 2700m² (square metres), 16m high, 50 x 21m, 3100 cubic metres water capacity, 3, 5, 7.5 and 10m diving towers, central heating, 1000 audience seating capacity, together with its Aqua Cafe it is the first and only Olympic Indoor Swimming pool in the country.
To benefit from the Centre, one shall have a health report that is obtained from the Near East Health and Wellness Centre. This report is given under the supervision of a doctor after a thoroughly test carried out at the Performance Laboratory to determine the physical ability of the person.
Before starting training at the Centre, the applicant shall be physically adequate to start training; performance level and body composition are determined by objective test results and developments are closely followed up by time.
