Name: Ewout Lionarons
“The World of Hospitality”
My grandnephew was rounding off his second year at Hotelschool The Hague. I remember he was in the leadership module and he was working in “Le Debut”, when he showed me around the university. Immediately, I was sold; a ‘Hotello’ was born.
The World of Hospitality is a very interesting industry to work in. You need global connections, knowledge of teamwork and you have to take cultural differences into consideration. These are exactly the competencies the Hotelschool The Hague teaches their students.
The Hotelschool The Hague supported me in my career path on many occasions. The University sent me to Qatar to work at the pre-opening of the W Doha Hotel & Residences. Additionally, the placement office thought I would be a good candidate for Starwood’s newest and most modern luxury brand and I did not even have to do an interview. The HR Director (Marieke Schellen) was also an alumna of ‘our school’, so she trusted the good judgment of the Placement Office.
It was that same network, build during my time at Hotelschool, which allowed me to take the role as Front Office Manager at Aloft Brussels Schuman. While being Front Office Manager at this property, we hired a number of practical placement students from different Hotelschools from The Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Hungary, etc. One thing is sure; the students from Hotelschool The Hague were always my favorite.
This is loyalty beyond reason, yet another Hospitality quality you learn at Hotelschool The Hague.
It is a great world, thanks to the Hotelschool The Hague.
Ewout Lionarons studied at Hotelschool The Hague and obtained his Bachelor Business Administration in Hotel Management (BBA.HM) here. Ewout graduated in 2009 at Hotelschool The Hague, Amsterdam campus. Currently he is Front Office Manager at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, Greece. The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is located next to the Ionian Sea coastline, and features 445 rooms and suites.
